This week we visited Kehn Thun, a Lahu village at the burmese border. The village lies just behind the temple mountain in Tathon, Chiang Mai province. The reason for our visit was a pastors family who live there since a year.
Kehn Thun is a very poor village of the Lahu Deng (red lahu). Catee visited this village for the last two years. About a year ago they decided as a family to move there to start a church. He and his wife Na-ui have three children. They are very poor but full of compassion for the people in the village. During the last year six people decided to follow Jesus and on Sundays there are up to ten people coming to the meetings.
Enoch visited the family regularly in the last months to encourage and pray for them. Pastors in remote areas are very isolated and this family needs encouragement and support for their work.
When I asked Catee what his needs are he said a new bicycle. The old one broke and can not be repaired. He used to drive hundreds of kilometers with it to evangelize in villages all the way down to Mae Sot. Also their house is getting to small for the meetings and their needs for the family. Next year they would need a bigger house.
After praying for their family and village I left thinking that we are going more involved with this village in the future.
