This week we visited Ken Tun and Hui Kau Laam. The Lahu people celebrate the end of the harvest. The people rest from the hard work and are happy. In the Christian villages they hold a special thanksgiving service. The people bring their tithes to the church in form of rice. They also cook a lot of food that will be eaten together or in the houses.
In the non-christain villages there is also a lot of drinking going on. I haven't seen so many drunk men for a long time. When we ate together after the service in Ken Tun one of the men had vomit. The situation was rather disgusting.
I was touched by the pastors reaction. He fetched some water and a rag and cleaned it up without judging the drunk person or telling him off. I was reminded of the washing of the feet. Cate, the pastor, showed a servant heart. This is a key to the peoples heart.
